Caleb Bester wins place at Eton College for Sep 2010

Caleb-and-David-Bester-Oct-2010.jpgFollowing on from his triumphant appearances in Lloyd Webber's Requiem and the Taylorian Productions' "The King and I" last year and his recent successes in ABRSM Examinations in Singing (Grade 6 Distinction), Piano (Grade 6 Merit) and Violin (Grade 5 Distinction), Caleb recently auditioned for a Music Award at the famous Eton College. Some 1,000 boys apply for places at Eton College each year and Caleb was one of 250 fortunate candidates to be offered a place in the September 2010 intake.  Caleb also joined a group of some 40 boys auditioning for one of the 14 prestigious Music Awards offered by the College.

Performing in front of a panel of four distinguished musicians, Caleb performed chosen pieces on the piano and the violin as well as singing a piece from Faure's Requiem and impressed the  panel to secure a coveted Music Exhibition award.

The award recognizes the talent and industry of Caleb - now 13, who has been an enthusiastic member of GaleForce since the age of 5.  It also offers him the opportunity to pursue his secondary school studies at one of the most famous schools in the world - whilst simultaneously nurturing his musical talent and aspirations in an environment which attaches a high value to the contribution which music and performing arts make to the development of young minds. We will miss Caleb but wish him well in the next, exciting chapter of his story!
