Adult Tuition

Presentations are now required in many professional lives and Mrs Gale can help you prepare for these.

An accomplished solo singer, Barbara Gale is also a popular ‘public speaker’ and is in demand from such diverse organisations as the W.I., Rotary Club, parent and teachers associations and historical societies.

Coaching – adults and children

One of the most enjoyable aspects of her teaching is the coaching of adult pupils. Barbara specializes in tuition using ESB (English Speaking Board) International, New Era Academy, IELTS (English Speaking Qualifications) and prepares students of all ages for competitions, interview, auditions, even that special speech to a retiring colleague or as ‘Father of the Bride’. Maybe your child needs help with spelling. grammar, reading, or just a bit of a confidence boost!.

Barbara is happy to help arrange sessions to suit you – just give her a call on 496556.

Past pupils have included fellow teachers, advocates, journalists and even an Island MHK, who shall remain nameless and now speaks with great dignity and poise!

Both Students and ‘Mature’ students can find the skills and confidence to present themselves at every occasion whether it is for enjoyment or more formal qualifications and Academic Achievement. Barbara is an A.D.B. (Associate of the Drama Board), member of N.O.D.A. (National Opera and Drama Association), the Society for Teachers of Speech and Drama, the National Drama Federation and now a valued member of the newly formed Theatre in Education Network (T.E.N.). The Gale Force Theatre School, of which Barbara is the Founder and Director, is now a designated centre for the English Speaking Board.

Neil Callin, one of the very first Members of Gale Force in 1989 has gone from strength to strength in the Performance Skills, now a leading actor for the Albany Theatre Group and the Manx Operatic Society together with performances for several professional companies and has been a leading light of the Gaiety Theatre Pantomimes for the last few years.

Breesha Maddrell is the Manx Music Development Officer for the Manx Heritage Foundation. Classically trained on flute and piano from an early age, she has always enjoyed singing in choirs, but was looking for a teacher to bring confidence to small ensemble and solo performance - she found that in Barbara Gale! Breesha says “Barbara is brilliant at spotting what is wrong, sensitively correcting it, and, most importantly, giving the confidence to perform securely. She has helped me enormously!”

TOMMY GORDON - DISTINCTION!

Mr Tommy Gordon has entered and passed with Distinction his first ever public speaking exam with the English Speaking Board (uk) and after just 6 months of study.
