NEWSLETTER OCTOBER 2012.

 

Lots of things have been happening to our students since the beginning of term and here are some you may have missed!

 

Firstly we welcome our new students Niamh, Jayne, Jess and James and want to say how very welcome they are and how they have settled in brilliantly, working SO hard on their Music, Singing and Drama, true assets to the ‘Force’.

 

Other students and their achievements include:

 

MAEBH Worthing has successfully passed her Grade 7 singing exam with Distinction and with 100% marks for her unaccompanied singing, which she chose to sing ‘O Vannin Veen’ written by Dr.Breesha Maddrell especially for Gale Force, Maebh gained 2nd prize in Young Singer of Mann with this song and Gale Force Seniors will be singing it in the 2013 Gaelic Choir Class at the Guild.

 

JESSIE Quigley has been chosen by her school, St Thomas’ Primary School, to compete in the 2012 Thomas Cranmer Award competitions in November and Jessie is the youngest student from Gale Force ever to participate, we all wish her every success.

 

BETH Colgan has been filming on the island for BBC, namely CBBC’s programme ‘The Knot’, where she plays a young girl taking part in a local Gymkhana and was filmed during the Agricultural Show in August on the fields at Patrick. The programme is to be shown on CBBC in November and Beth earned her first ‘pay-check’, her first ‘professional job!!!

 

ANDREW and JACOB Halstein, GILES and BARTON Beaumont, and HARRY Ashley are all in the production of ‘ANNIE Jr, ‘ at the Gaiety Theatre and we wish them all success for a long and tiring run over Half Term, I am sure they will enjoy every minute and we all look forward to seeing them in their various roles.

 

FINN McGregor, BARTON and GILES Beaumont have auditioned successfully for the Manx Operatic Society Pantomime in December 2012. Finn and Giles are part of the Seven Dwarf team and Barton is part of the villagers Chorus.

 

ESB EXAMINATIONS 2012. We had tremendous success again in our exams and with 16 Distinctions, 4 Merit Plus and 2 Merits we are all very proud of all our students. Full details are listed separately on the website but it should be noted that ANDREW Halstein, ADAM Morton and KATIE Gudgeon achieved 100% Distinctions, loosing no points at all in any of the 4 sections!

 

We are now turning our attentions, after Half term, to ‘New Era ‘ exams in March, Manx Music Festival in April and of course before then CHRISTMAS!!! And auditions for our Christmas Concert on 16th December! (Please do please check your Dates List for up to date information!)
