Galeforce has a First Again

Gale Force Students have just spent 2 full days being examined by one of the very top Senior Examiners from the ESB (English Speaking Board) and ALL students passed with either a Distinction or a Merit Plus, which is 80-89%. Great celebrations are now in full swing!!!

In addition to this 2 of the students who have studied with Mrs Gale since they were Juniors, Moira Pain and Torin Lakeman have passed their ‘Advanced Certificate in Language Arts’, never before attempted by a student on the IOM, and it is equivalent to an ‘A-Level/International Baccalaureate’ examination. They not only passed but passed with Distinction after a 15-minute talk, leading a discussion for 10 minutes, and producing over 6 pieces of poetry/drama/prose. Their exam lasted an hour each and they had prepared for this over the last 8 months, giving up many weekends and evenings studying with Mrs Gale.

Maebh Worthing and Elizabeth Ardern-Corris both gained Distinction in the ‘Readers and Leaders’ syllabus which demands talks on charitable issues and Bible reading and Ellie Schofield and Chris Chan gained Merit Plus with Distinction in two of their categories, in the Senior Proficiency Grade, equivalent to a GCSE test.

Mrs Gale cannot express her joy and admiration for all these students and it fills her with enormous pride that all her students from little Giles Beaumont and Jessie Quigley to her Seniors, are prepared to work with such dedication and sheer hard work!
