GALE FORCE STRENGTHENS TEAM - WENDY SUTCLIFFE

Gale Force theatre school continues to strengthen its professional credentials in 2012 with the appointment of one of the English Speaking Board’s most prominent senior assessors to act as consultant.

Wendy Sutcliffe, B.Ed Hons, Dip.(Applied Psych) will be working under exclusive contract to the theatre school alongside founder and director Barbara Gale. Mrs Sutcliffe, a former head of English at Secondary Level in Shropshire and a Sessional University lecturer in Presentational Skills, will be visiting the Island to tutor students, selected by Mrs Gale, studying for the ESB’s most demanding Senior examinations and presentations.

Mrs Gale said: ‘We are extremely fortunate and delighted that an ESB assessor of Wendy Sutcliffe’s calibre - and one who is so much in demand – has agreed to share her knowledge and experience exclusively with Gale Force. She will be visiting the Island to work with us at least three times a year and more often in the run-up to exams and competitions.

‘Wendy’s passion for encouraging young talent combined with her specialist skills in the spoken word will be of exceptional value to our senior students. For my part, I am proud to know her not only as a consummate professional but also as a dear friend. At a time when she could be taking things more easily in retirement Wendy has generously chosen to help these gifted young people achieve their ambitions and, in so doing, she will be contributing to Gale Force’s reputation for excellence.  Clearly Wendy recognises Gale Force students to be very special, a view I share wholeheartedly.’

Mrs Sutcliffe, who lives in Shropshire attended Gale Force’s Christmas concert at the Erin Arts Centre last November where she met with students, parents, the school’s vice-presidents and team members.  She will begin her work with Gale Force at the end of January, preparing students for senior ESB examinations in September.
