Students Summer 2012

Eve McGregor

Having recently been the only member of her ballet class to gain a Distinction in Grade 5, Eve McGregor recently attended a Performance Masterclass with Birmingham Royal Ballet. The 2-day workshop included classical ballet training and centred around a solo piece of choreography created especially for the Masterclass by Olivia Pickford AISTD RAD Dip and themed on the Olympic Torchbearers. The Masterclass culminated in a performance of the piece by Eve and fellow ballet students.

Olivia Christian

The IB is basically an international version of A Levels. You take six subjects, each of which is marked out of 7, with 7 being roughly the same as an A* at A Level, a 6 being an A, etc. You then have the chance to earn up to three more points by doing essays on a variety of subjects. I got 42 points overall, with three sevens, three sixes, and all three bonus points, which is more than enough to get into Durham, so I’m very happy!

Moira Pain

Moira was a very valued member of the team for Summer School 2012 and as well as playing Flute in the rain at Port Erin Railway Station, earned 3xAs and 2xCs in her A level exams!!!! She is a pupil at the QE2 School and this year has the honour to be Head Girl.

Torin Lakeman

Torin Lakeman was a fully integrated member of the Gale Force Seniors, which included trying his hand at Manx Dancing, singing in Manx and creating Drama scenes on the theme ‘THE SEA’ He is a member of Castle Rushen High School and although only 16 gained 3xCs and 3xDs in his A level results, at his first attempt!

Jessie Quigley

Whilst only aged 7 Jessie auditioned for the Cathedral Choristers in August 2012, during her Summer School week and was accepted. She has a truly remarkable voice for one so young and we are all very proud of this special achievement.
